The soprano Bb and C models are the most widespread. They are dedicated to a wide range of styles such as classical, jazz, pop, funk, but also are marching band instruments and eventually are performed in Brass Bands (especially the cornet). The most popular trumpet and cornet bores are ML standing for medium large (11.34mm) and L for large (11.73mm), which are both measurements of the inside diameter of the second valve slide. It is the overall interior geometry of the pipe, which is two thirds conical and one third cylindrical on a trumpet (at the opposite of the two thirds conical and one third cylindrical for the cornet), that has a determining influence on the tone and overall acoustics.
